Our Story

Natural Capital Certification Ltd (NCC) was established in 2026 to provide independent, rigorous and trusted validation and verification services for carbon and natural capital projects.

As environmental markets continue to grow, confidence in project outcomes depends upon credible, impartial assessment. NCC was founded to help strengthen that confidence through technical innovation, transparent decision-making and a commitment to professional integrity.

NCC works with project developers, land managers and nature standards to support the delivery of high-quality carbon and natural capital projects across the UK.

Our Assessors and Technical Experts

NCC works with a network of experienced assessors and technical experts, bringing together expertise from across forestry, carbon markets, peatland restoration, ecology, land management and environmental auditing.

Assessment teams are selected according to the specific requirements of each project, ensuring that appropriate technical knowledge and practical experience are available throughout the validation and verification process.

By combining independent assessment with specialist sector expertise, NCC is able to deliver robust, proportionate and credible assurance services that support the integrity of carbon and natural capital markets.

NCC was established by Andy Baker MICFor, former Senior Operational Manager at the Woodland Carbon Code. Responsibilities in this role included the continued improvement of project validation and verification processes, quality assurance and assessor management.

Prior to joining the Woodland Carbon Code, Andy spent six years working within the UK commercial forestry sector, gaining practical experience of woodland creation, forest management, timber production and the operational realities faced by landowners and project developers.

Drawing on experience gained across the forestry, carbon and environmental assurance sectors, Andy recognised the need for a validation and verification body that combines technical rigour with a practical, client-focused approach. NCC was established to meet that need, providing independent assessment services that support both project developers and the long-term credibility of environmental markets.
